My name is Stefano and I come from a small town in Italy called Varese. I love movies with a twist ending, music of, almost, any kind, good food and animals, especially Aaron, my dog.
Sport has halways been central to my life but, competitively speaking, I started as a swimmer, being able to achieve a bronze medal at the national youth championships swimming 25.41 sec in the 50m butterfly at the age of 16.
What those years really gave me, though, was the possibility to be guided by people who made me realize how impactful a coach can be, having the potential to inspire others and instill values that trascend the mere training. Those sort of people can gain a prominent role in someone’s life, even after trainings are over and you go back home; even when you stop for good, luckily, you get to carry them with you for the rest of your life.
Aspiring to be, one day, one of those people, I started coaching myself, consistently leading a discrete number of athetes to the national youth championships and being fortunate enough to cooperate in Nicolò Martinenghi trainings, gaining invaluable experience into elite-level training methodologies. With the same goal in mind, I finally decided to switch into CrossFit and personal training which I’m still doing here in the Netherlands as my main job.
While working as a coach, I was also able to achieve a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in sport science which broadened my knowledge on training and performance and gave me a more thorough approach to technique and movement in general.
Finally, in all those years of teaching and coaching swimming I found myself repeating the same things to swimmers who competed at national level and beginners who just started their journey. I realized that those were the fundamentals that, despite all the differences, never change, and, probably, never will. I then decided to build my concept of swimming on those few things that I’m very much eager to spread and share to help people mastering the basics before chasing a “good stroke” or even a performance!
